Sternbräu

Located in the heart of the old town of Salzburg on Griesgasse, the Sternbräu is an interesting mix between modern and traditional. Hailing back to 1542, the Sternbräu has been an institution of Salzburg for centuries. With plentiful options for seating, both indoor and outdoor, customers can make themselves at home here. The house beer, the ‘Sternbier’ is a cloudy, amber colored beer brewed locally by the regional brewery Kaltenhausen. And while the beer at the Sternbräu is refreshing and delicious, you must also try the food. The Sternbräu sources many of their food products from local farmers, dairies, butchers and bakers. This quality and the freshness of the ingredients is evident in every bite! The menu does vary some seasonally, but you can always count on classics such as the Wiener Schnitzel or Goulash to be available. https://www.sternbrau.at/?lang=en

Stiegl-Keller

Sitting just under the Hohensalzburg Fortress, on Festungsgasse 10, lies the entrance to the Stiegl-Keller. Cut into the old town walls, the Stiegl-Keller’s tri-level outdoor beer garden offers unparalleled views overlooking the rooftops of the old city. For the rainy or cold weather nights, there are also cozy, warm indoor seating options available! Stiegl beer is a Salzburg specialty, founded in 1492, Stiegl continues to be privately and family run to this day. Beer is not the only specialty at the Stiegl-Keller. A full menu, punctuated by rotating seasonal options, is also available, and delicious! From Wienerschnitzel to Knödel, the menu has something to please anyone in your party. Augustiner Bräu

Founded in 1621, Augustiner Brewery can be reached via a 15 minute stroll from the old town along the Salzalch river towards the area just north of Salzburg main city called Mülln. The outdoor bier garten is spacious with tables covered by lush chestnut trees. There is also a covered outdoor terrace with some limited seating. Even with the abundance of outdoor seating, this space fills up quickly on warm summer weekends, so arrive early. The Augustiner Bräu also offers seven indoor seating areas, the larger of which hold between 150-200 people each and are adorned with beautiful wood and marble. These areas are cozy and warm and perfect for enjoying an Augustiner Bier on a cold winter or rainy evening.

Serving is unique at this brewery. Rather than servers bringing beer to guests, each patron grabs their own stone stein, rinses it out and brings it to be filled. In the main hall of the brewery, you will find a food arcade with local specialties. Fresh breads, fish, leberkäse, pastries, and much more await your selection. https://augustinerbier.at

No matter which of these three bier gartens you visit, you are guaranteed to enjoy the beverages, food and ambiance!
