A Spa Day in Denver

Join me as I enjoy a spa day in Denver, exploring local hotels and their relaxing spa treatments.

With family and friends spread across the US, Denver makes an ideal central meeting point for a long weekend. As a hub for United and Frontier, and a focus airport for Southwest airlines, the Denver airport is fairly easy to access from most major US cities.

Denver has figured out how to make arriving/departing into their city both easy and cheap. The airport is situated about thirty miles outside of the downtown area. While you certainly can take a rideshare into the city, which will cost between $20-$40 depending on time of day, the easiest and cheapest option is to hop onto the A line train. The A line runs between the airport and Union Station downtown. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at automated machines on the platform with cash or credit cards. The train leaves every 15 min during peak daytime hours and every 30 min during slower hours so be sure to check the schedule before your flight arrives. The RTD has an excellent website with schedules of all of their lines in/around the Denver area. Denver Transit A Line Schedule.

I have made Denver a destination on several occasions for spa/girls’ weekends and have always enjoyed the time. There are a large number of spa options in the downtown Denver area with a variety of services and prices to fit most budgets. Below are a two spas that a friend and I hit on a recent visit to Denver, but there are many more options out there!

The Four Seasons

The Four Seasons in Denver definitely did not disappoint! Their services (I had a massage and mani/pedi) were top notch. The Four Seasons also offers access to a whirlpool, relaxation room, and a lounge, all separated by gender. In the warmer months, you may also have access to the rooftop pool and beverage/food service. If you are not interested in a spa treatment, you can still enjoy the spa amenities for around $150/day. After a day of being pampered, I felt refreshed and lighter, as did my wallet! The three services I enjoyed plus a snack, a couple of drinks and gratuity cost around $350. Overall it was an expensive day but worth the occasional splurge. The Four Seasons Hotel and Spa

The Brown Palace

The Brown Palace spa and hotel is located in a breathtakingly beautiful building built in 1892 by William Cordes Brown. Stepping into the expansive atrium lobby soaring eight stories above you, you can feel the grandeur of what it would have been like to visit this hotel at the turn of the twentieth century. The hotel offers many services, including afternoon tea in the atrium and Sunday champagne brunches as well as six restaurants/bars. The palace should definitely be on your visit list if nothing else than to take in the architecture and decor.

The Brown Palace spa, located on the main and lower level is slightly more reasonably priced than the Four Seasons. However, they are lacking in some of the same spa amenities in comparison. The lounge area is small but nicely arranged, the bathrooms and steam room were more basic, and there is no relaxation room or whirlpool. The treatments (I enjoyed a massage, and my friend had a facial) were enjoyable and relaxing. The complimentary mimosas were a nice touch! This spa visit didn’t break the bank, costing $165 for a 50-min massage and relaxation in the spa lounge. I definitely plan to return to the Brown Palace in the future to check out the high tea and some of the restaurant offerings!
